Return to the World of Card Based Cosmic Horrors in Arkham Noir: Case #3 From Publisher Ludonova
Whenever I am in the mood to play a solitaire game that is not mentally taxing whilst simultaneously providing an engaging experience I reach for Arkham Noir, the card based game of cosmic horrors in the H.P. Lovecraft universe from designer Yves Tourigny and publisher Ludonova. With its evocative art style and interesting push-your-luck mechanisms the Noir series are designed exclusively for solitaire play which is rather fitting considering the theme of being alone in the cold darkness of the void. Therefore I was extremely excited to read the news that Ludonova will be publishing a third case titled Infinite Gulfs of Darkness:
‘Arkham Noir is a solitaire card game inspired by the interconnected stories of H.P. Lovecraft and other authors, re-imagined as noir detective stories. Each case stands alone. Gameplay consists of adding cards to open cases, creating lines of investigation, in an effort to solve them. The ultimate goal is to score five “puzzle” Clue cards in order to piece together the Big Picture, before running out of time or mental stability.
Each newly shuffled deck is the start of a unique challenge, with adjustable difficulty levels to accomodate all level players. In “Infinite Gulfs of Darkness” Howard Lovecraft investigates events based on the stories “From Beyond” (1920), “Nyarlathotep” (1920), “The Haunter of the Dark” (1935), and Robert Bloch’s “The Shadow from the Steeple” (1950).’
Arkham Noir: Case #3 - Infinite Gulfs of Darkness is scheduled for a release in July 2021.
