Publisher Osprey Games is expanding the world of the fantasy themed skirmish game Wildlands with the upcoming expansion titled Wildlands: The Ancients. Designed by Martin Wallace, the expansion features several new modules which will enrichen the core experience of Wildlands including cooperative play or the option to use the Ancients as a faction when playing the base game. However for the solo player the most interesting module will undoubtedly be The Awoken, a scenario based solitaire module where you are competing against the titular Ancients for dominance of the realm.

“The Ancients, age-old guardians of the arcane crystals, have long slumbered in their secret vaults. Rumored to be invincible sentinels, they have defended their crystals unchallenged for eons. With the fall of the Empire, the most desperate bands of the Wildlands have joined forces to take them down and claim the crystals they protect.

Wildlands: The Ancients introduces powerful creatures and new terrains that allow players to play Wildlands solo and cooperatively, as well as supporting play with up to six players.” - description by the publisher

If you want to know more about how the solo module plays then I highly recommend Osprey Games’ thorough playthrough. The Wildlands: The Ancients expansion will be available at retail on February 18th.
